Education

Education in the Metropolitan Zone has consolidated itself along the years in which many excellent schools, as well as private and public universities, have established here.  Together they guarantee our community and all the companies here graduates will excellence levels.


There are excellent private bilingual elementary schools as well as junior high schools with high academic levels such as:  The American School of Tampico (ATS) incorporated to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Colegio Columbia, Escuela John F. Kennedy, Instituto Cultural Tampico, Colegio Félix de Jesús Rougier and Instituto Anglo Mexicano.



In the year 2006, the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Tampico (ITESM) increased the economic activity of the zone thanks to its Business Incubator and its Business Center, besides including three new degrees adding up 8 complete university degrees and the first semesters of 12 more which also offer international programs.  It also has other educational programs, 2 specialty programs, 12 virtual master degrees and one doctorate.

Founded en 1974 by some businessmen in Tampico, the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas (IEST) is part since 2005 of the Anáhuac University system, advised by Christ’s Legion and the Regnum Christi Movement.  It includes 12 degrees, which helps in the process of an international development.  This institute has also increased its number of postgraduate courses.

The Universidad del Noreste (UNE), founded in 1970, was the first private institution of superior education in the state.  Its study programs offer 3 degrees in the area of chemical-biological sciences, 3 in behavioral and educational sciences, 3 in arts and humanity and 5 degrees in economical-management sciences as well as several qualified courses, postgraduate courses and continuous education.

The Instituto de Ciencas y Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas A.C. (ICEST) is an institution officially recognized since 1980 for its excellent levels of education.  It offers a solid formation throughout its 3 engineering degrees and its other 22 degrees, most of them in groups of four-month courses which allows the student to finish college earlier.

The Universidad Valle del Bravo teaches 18 degrees, 7 engineering degrees and 3 in the health area as well as master degrees and workshops.  The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas is another university with a great prestige in the region with 8 academic units that teach several degrees, master degrees and doctorates.  The Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) offers several academic programs that stimulate the development of micro, small and medium businesses.  Other institutions that teach professional education are: Universidad de Relaciones Internacionales (UREI) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Cd.
