This extraordinary natural scenery is the path for the Boquillas or Comandante River through the Cucharas Mountain Range. Most of the year, the river can be crossed on foot and there is a rustic elevated transportation to cross it during rainy season. The large rocks and the exuberant trees make this place an extraordinary site to spend a peaceful day in contact with nature and swimming. You can also practice exploration finding some caves at the northeastern side of the canyon and fossils, of sea origin walking up river, transforming this site located 150 km from the sea into a window to our geological past.
After to have enjoyed a morning in the Cañon de la Servilleta, we recommended to visit the town of Ocampo. To arrive at will have to be returned by the same way until arriving at Highway 72 and soon to give return to the left. After 30 km you will cross the mountain range of Cucharas and you will find this small population where we recommended you to visit.
HOW TO GET THERE: You should take Highway 85 to Cd. Victoria, then make a left turn on the highway to Ocampo. After 13 km you will find a detour to the right signaling the Cañón de la Servilleta. Three kilometers ahead you will get to the Ejido el Riachuelo, from there to the Canyon there are about 500 meters.
