This canal that unites the Pánuco River with the Laguna del Carpintero (Carpenter’s Lagoon), is the reason for many drainage and restoration works to convert it into a navigable ride that will surely be an important tourist detonator for Tampico. The first stage of this project consisted in the construction of seven vehicular bridges, five pedestrian ones and a train one that go along with the architectonic harmony of the zone. Today a regeneration of the neighboring areas of the canal is taking place, as well as the dredging of 3 meters that will allow the canal to be navigable for 27 feet sport boats and 40 feet recreational boats.
